Song Title: The Mezzanine Floor
Tabbed by Mike K.
I decided to start tabbing some delirious songs because they hve really cool
baselines, but you can't find the tab anywhere on the net. If you have any
requests, comments, corrections etc. you can email me at
[email protected].
When your playing this song, the notes should be perfect. A lot of times it
can be hard to tell the exact rhytmn and number of notes, for example, if
the bass hits a note at the same time as the bass drum, and then the bd hits
again it can sound like two notes coming from the bass, but I have good
speakers, and I listened really carefully, so I'm pretty sure everything's
correct.

Now this last bit is kind of tricky, and you will definately have to listen
to the song. At the very end there are three options, and you will have to
listen to know which one to play. Most of the time you will play it as
writtien, but sometimes you will pause before you play the last part of the
riff, and you won't play as much of it.
G|————8h10————————————10—12—10———|
D|————————————————————————————12—|
A|8——————————8——10———————————————|
A|———————————————————————————————|
Also, about every three times you repeat the line, for some reason it is
about two beats shorter. Here, you just hit the G (Fret 10 on A string)
twice and then slide down, for example:
G|————8h10—————————————|————————4h6———————...
D|—————————————————————|——————————————————...
A|8——————————8——10—10|4———————————4—6———...
A|—————————————————————|——————————————————...
>From here you just go right into the next iteration.
Finally, when the song ends, you'll want to hit the G on the 15th fret of
your E string so that you can slide all the way down to the E.
Bass tablature (tabs) is an easy way to learn songs without needing to read traditional sheet music. Here’s a quick guide to understanding the symbols and techniques commonly found in tabs:
Each line in a tab represents a string on your bass:
Numbers on the lines indicate which fret to press. For example:
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------|
A|---3---------------|
E|-------------------|
This means you play the 3rd fret on the A string.
Play the first note by picking it, then press down on a higher fret with another finger without picking again.
G|-------------------|
D|-------5h7---------|
Pluck a note and then "pull off" your finger to let a lower fret ring.
G|-------------------|
D|-------7p5---------|
Move your finger up (/) or down (\) the fretboard while maintaining pressure.
G|-------------------|
D|-------5/7---------|
G|-------7b9---------|
G|-------7~----------|
Tabs don’t always indicate timing, so listen to the song while reading the tab. Wider spaces between numbers mean longer pauses, while closer numbers indicate quicker notes.
Tabs are a great tool to learn songs, but mastering the techniques takes practice. Listen carefully to the original track and play along to lock in the rhythm. Don’t rush — smooth, accurate playing is more important than speed. Happy jamming! 🎸
