Tabbed by Joe Schmitt

This song is a classic! The best part is it's fun to play both on bass
and if you have 2 guitar players it should defininately be covered.
In the beginning part with just bass and when the guitar comes in there's
something you might want to try. When I play it every other note has a very
slight bend to it in the A notes.Like This
b b b
G——————————————————
D——————————————————
A——————————————5—3—
E——5—5—5—5—5—5—————
That's how I do it.Just simply playing the note sounds good, too. It might
be right just playing it anyways.
The Verse
When verse starts Then everytime after
G—————————————————|———————————————
D—————————————————|———————————————
A—————————————5—3—|———————————5—3—
E—0—5———5———5—————|—5———5———5—————
.I just wanna make...Love to you
G———————————————————————————————————
D———————————————————————————————————
A——————————————————————————————————3
E—0——————————————————————3——————————
There's part part in the middle when the guitar just plays a D.THe bass
just goes off.Since you are reading this you all are pros at bass, right.
I always just make it up and D scale up the neck.Whatever you do is fine,
cause this the bass lead, and havin fun and doin your thing is what it's about
The ending of that D run ends just like the chorus
G———————————————————————————————————
D———————————————————————————————————
A——————————————————————————————————3
E—0——————————————————————3——————————
And the rest is just verse and chorus.I think so anyways.Anything you don't
understand, either listen to the song,or if you can't figure it out after that,
then e—mail me.====
Foghat are a British rock band who had their peak success in the mid- to late-1970s. Their style can be described as "blues-rock," dominated by electric and electric slide guitar. The band has achieved five gold records. The group remained popular during the disco era, but their popularity waned in the early 1980s.
Bass tablature (tabs) is an easy way to learn songs without needing to read traditional sheet music. Here’s a quick guide to understanding the symbols and techniques commonly found in tabs:
Each line in a tab represents a string on your bass:
Numbers on the lines indicate which fret to press. For example:
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------|
A|---3---------------|
E|-------------------|
This means you play the 3rd fret on the A string.
Play the first note by picking it, then press down on a higher fret with another finger without picking again.
G|-------------------|
D|-------5h7---------|
Pluck a note and then "pull off" your finger to let a lower fret ring.
G|-------------------|
D|-------7p5---------|
Move your finger up (/) or down (\) the fretboard while maintaining pressure.
G|-------------------|
D|-------5/7---------|
G|-------7b9---------|
G|-------7~----------|
Tabs don’t always indicate timing, so listen to the song while reading the tab. Wider spaces between numbers mean longer pauses, while closer numbers indicate quicker notes.
Tabs are a great tool to learn songs, but mastering the techniques takes practice. Listen carefully to the original track and play along to lock in the rhythm. Don’t rush — smooth, accurate playing is more important than speed. Happy jamming! 🎸
