The Police are a great band. Not only do their songs sound really
good but they are so easy to play. I recommend that you play this
while listening to the CD, as the rhythms are pretty hard to get at
first AND the number of repeats can be noted.

REPEAT AS MANY TIMES AS NECESSARY AND MUSIC EVENTUALLY FADES OUT
DURING THE CHORUS
If you feel you can, then try to personalize this chorus by changing
the way you make the transition from one note to the other, I tried
it and it sounds better, it flows better.
This is a great song, if very simple, and if you can master the art
of singing while playing your bass you'll do it justice. Its the
bassist who does the work here, Sting himself, and some skill and
personalization of this song makes it a joy to play.
The police are people empowered to enforce the law, protect property and reduce civil disorder. Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with police services of a state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. The word comes via medieval French police, from Latin politia ("civil administration"), from ancient Greek ????? ("city").
Bass tablature (tabs) is an easy way to learn songs without needing to read traditional sheet music. Hereβs a quick guide to understanding the symbols and techniques commonly found in tabs:
Each line in a tab represents a string on your bass:
Numbers on the lines indicate which fret to press. For example:
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------|
A|---3---------------|
E|-------------------|
This means you play the 3rd fret on the A string.
Play the first note by picking it, then press down on a higher fret with another finger without picking again.
G|-------------------|
D|-------5h7---------|
Pluck a note and then "pull off" your finger to let a lower fret ring.
G|-------------------|
D|-------7p5---------|
Move your finger up (/) or down (\) the fretboard while maintaining pressure.
G|-------------------|
D|-------5/7---------|
G|-------7b9---------|
G|-------7~----------|
Tabs donβt always indicate timing, so listen to the song while reading the tab. Wider spaces between numbers mean longer pauses, while closer numbers indicate quicker notes.
Tabs are a great tool to learn songs, but mastering the techniques takes practice. Listen carefully to the original track and play along to lock in the rhythm. Donβt rush β smooth, accurate playing is more important than speed. Happy jamming! πΈ
