Hey, this is officially my first tab and I guess a brief overview of why I am tabbing
this song is because it's a great, hilarious song and I figured that it deserved to
be tabbed. I'm sure that those of you who like 'The Lonely Island' will appreciate
my contribution.
There is generally one main riff that is played throughout the song with slight
variations from time to time. Now I tabbed this all by ear, and though it may not be
perfect, it will mostly definitely suffice if your just looking to play along.
Variation 1:
G|—8/4————3h4—6——|
D|——————4————————|
A|———————————————|
E|———————————————|
variation 2:
G|—8—8—8—/—4—4—4—4—4—————34—6—6—6—6—6—|
D|———————————————————4—4——————————————|
A|————————————————————————————————————|
E|————————————————————————————————————|
Variation 3: (Best if played with bass drum during verses)
G|————————————————————————————————|
D|————————————————————————————————|
A|—6—66/2——2—2—22———————4——4—4—44—|
E|————————————————2—22————————————|
Now I realize that there is a slight change towards the end of the song (2:17) so
here is what you would play for that:
Variation 4:
G|—9—9—9—/—5—5—5—5—5—————45—7—7—7—7—7—|
D|———————————————————5—5—————————————|
A|———————————————————————————————————|
E|———————————————————————————————————|
Variation 5: (The last measure)
G|—9—9—9—/—5—5—5—5—5—————45—7——|
D|———————————————————5—5———————|
A|—————————————————————————————|
E|—————————————————————————————|
Also, feel free to build off of these variations I made up and send me new
improvements. I'm fairly confident that my thinking is on the right track, but still
let me know what you think.

Bass tablature (tabs) is an easy way to learn songs without needing to read traditional sheet music. Here’s a quick guide to understanding the symbols and techniques commonly found in tabs:
Each line in a tab represents a string on your bass:
Numbers on the lines indicate which fret to press. For example:
G|-------------------| D|-------------------| A|---3---------------| E|-------------------|
This means you play the 3rd fret on the A string.
Play the first note by picking it, then press down on a higher fret with another finger without picking again.
G|-------------------| D|-------5h7---------|
Pluck a note and then "pull off" your finger to let a lower fret ring.
G|-------------------| D|-------7p5---------|
Move your finger up (/) or down (\) the fretboard while maintaining pressure.
G|-------------------| D|-------5/7---------|
G|-------7b9---------|
G|-------7~----------|
Tabs don’t always indicate timing, so listen to the song while reading the tab. Wider spaces between numbers mean longer pauses, while closer numbers indicate quicker notes.
Tabs are a great tool to learn songs, but mastering the techniques takes practice. Listen carefully to the original track and play along to lock in the rhythm. Don’t rush — smooth, accurate playing is more important than speed. Happy jamming! 🎸
