Why do bassists use a 5 string and not even use the B?
Perfect examples of this is David Eleffson (except Crush Em), Robert Trujillo, didn't Newsted use one?, and Jack Gibson. Like it doesn't even make any sense why they would play a 5 string and not use the B. Jack Gibson uses a 5 string bass, Gary Holt and Lee Altus use D standard 6 string DGCFAd, Jack uses ADGCF and the A is never used. Can anyone explain why they do this?
They might only use the B in some songs. And they might use a 5 string. To play songs that only use 4 strings because they like the feel of the bass.
They definitly use it. you just don't realize it.
Where's your proof? Do you see Dave Mustaine and Chris Broderick using a 7 string or a tuned down 6 string? Nope, makes no sense why Ellefson would use the B, it would be way lower.
Even if you don't play below “E”, the fifth string lets you play it in the middle of the neck on the B string instead of having to slide up and down for the lower notes. Just easier to play the scales that way, especially if you play fast.
As for alternate tuning, they might like the tone they get with the different string tensions, or they're just trying to be different. Why do people play two-string punk basses?

Because punk bassists don't play shit. Assuming punk bassists do use those
Klaus Flouride was pretty good. But besides him punk bassist are pretty bad

All of them are pretty bad, especially some of the singers and the guitarists and drummers usually aren't anything special either.
Again, that is mostly true with rare exeptions
Yes RHCP is definitely in those exceptions!
The problem is if you make punk too technichal it USUALLY ends up sounding like metal
