Bass tuning
hhmm, Some advice on this question… I've noticed recently that when I hit the G String, 9th Fret, it vibrates my open A String at the same time.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
S
I'm pretty sure that's cuz you're getting what's called sympathetic vibrations. Did you try playing the 9th fret on the d string and seeing if the low e string vibrates?
Yes… the E string vibrates a little…not as much as the G
that's probably because the E string and d string are lower frequencies.
you should look into techniques where you mute the lower strings when you're playing on the higher strings.
there isn't anything wrong with your bass, certain notes can cause open strings to vibrate on their own.
I agree with just3boyz - the solution is learning to mute strings that you aren't sounding. Use the outside edge of the palm of your playing hand; you can also do some muting using your fretting hand - the fingers not involved in sounding the note you are playing but careful about harmonics.
Thanks for the tips… something new to learn.
Thanks again.

I did a short instruction video on the topic.
