Sorry this isn't bass related but it's important to remember. It concerns my home town of Hartlepool, 100 years ago today, December 16th 1914, three German battleships steamed into Hartlepool Bay at just after 8 am and fired over 1000 shells at the town, the bombardment lasted 20 minutes and left 130 dead and over 600 seriously injured, Hartlepools ‘Heugh Battery’ returned fire causing some damage. The Royal Navy gave chase and destroyed all three ships at the battles of ‘Dogger Bank’ and ‘Jutland’.
It was the only battle on British soil in the Great War. Today there are remembrance services and re-enactments, schoolchildren will read out the names of the 130 dead and the day will end with every church bell in town ringing and a bugler playing the Last Post. Thanks

The entire English Navy bombarded the town of Baltimore for 24 hours straight during the War of 1812.

To no avail.

The American Navy bombarded the English town of Ashington, also in the war of 1812. America also bombed the shit out of Iraq, and still no sign of weapons of mass destruction

During the Vietnam war, the U.S. dropped 1,633,035 tons of bombs. Think of all the musical instruments and amps that could have been bought with all of that war money; and enough left over to buy a tour bus for every band.
