That alliance sure went well for us(Portugal), didn't it?
At one time the alliance was based on a trade treaty that made Portugal go bankrupt and made England reach record wealth. When Portugal got so poor we couldn't keep up with its terms no more England invaded.
On another Napoleon invaded Portugal and we requested England's assistance. Together we fought out the French but the country was so devastated England invaded and occupied for a while. That's all I can remember from history class
