small fretted bass?
Going from playing my fretless onto fretted makes me realise how slowly the jumbo frets seem to make me play, are there any basses which have slim/narrow frets?
I like the cheap Squier Jaguar Vintage Modified basses. Active electronics, P/J setup, short scale, what's not to love?
Of the big two, Fender use thinner fretwire than Gibson, cant speak for all the rest though. Jim Dunlop has more than 20 different gauges of fretwire, re fret it yourself

Cheers.
I'd love to but I lack the knowledge.
I wonder if thinner strings would help? I have thick gauge flatwounds on it & its a cheap stagg thing with traintrack gauge frets…
I'd like something like a fretless bass but with frets you can just about feel, that would be awesome.

You mean like a fretless with small bumps where the frets would be? Or actual frets?
Lakland uses very thin frets.

I'm not sure really? it was just a thought I had.. wonder if anyone makes such a thing?
There was a guitar back in the 80s made by a Scottish luthier who I cant remember, it had a graphite fingerboard and instead of frets the board was stepped so the high points of the steps acted as frets, it didnt catch on then but maybe the time is right for another go
I haven't played one, but have heard very good things about Sire basses. Supposed to be very good for the price based on comments on TalkBass
Heard nothing but amazing things about Sire basses, not just online but also from other players. My bass teacher is also a studio musician played one and says they're really good overall (not just good for the money) and knows another studio bassist who sold his MIA Jazz Bass and plays the Marcus Miller model only. They also go out of stock on Thomann really fast
