Newbie questions regarding pickups?
Hey everybody, I recently received a secondhand bass from a friend, and was interested in getting back into the scene. However, upon closer inspection, somebody has already had a field day with this instrument, and I had some questions regarding what to do next. The pickups don't even seem to be connected beyond the volume, and honestly, I have no idea where to start.
Is this the right place to go about asking for advice?
Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks man!
If Nick's link doesn't get you where you want to go… there is a legend of a man. A tale of wonder if you will… A man who travels with the spirit walkers and blue collars that may be able to help. He goes by the name Marko1960, and if your cries for help include pictures and details, he just might be able to whip in with the northern winds and help you out.
Aw Mark you old honey dripper. Nicks link to Seymour Duncan is a master stroke but any deeper questions about pots and how they work, don't hesitate to ask
Marko…the tale of wonder and mystery. That's sounds like a good movie actually.
Hi Marko! I installed a set of EMG in my P bass and I think I had the wires going to the plug backwards at first. I went back and look at the directions and got it wired right but I think I may still have a problem with the tone. Or did I fry something else?

Hi J B, you won't ‘fry’ anything by wiring it wrong, you don't say if they are active, is the battery box connected properly/ new battery etc
No it is Passive. I don't seem to get much difference in the Tone when I turn the knob from one way to the other. It is Geezer Butler signature EMG thanks

Detailed pictures of your wiring might help. I wonder if the tone pot and capacitor are correctly connected.
