Scratched pickups
Hi! I'm playing a squier pj bass and the other day, I saw that my pickups are scratched because of the strings friction. I tried to lower down the pickups, but they are already low. Do the pickups need to be super low or it's just normal that my pickups are scratched?
No it's not normal, unless you slap ‘em straight onto the pickups. On most of my basses the pickups are situated about 5 to 6 mm (0.2 to 0.25 in) below the E string. They’re a little closer to the G string. Pictures would help.
I have a friend who scratches up the pickup covers with his pick. It makes me feel good - someone who is worse with a pick than I am!
