I hate playing songs that barely have anything going on in them or just an open string. I started mid August so I've been playing for a good two and a half months but can still only play a few albums. I know pretty much every marilyn manson song as I have learned Antichrist Superstar, Smells Like Children, and Born Villain. So a good amount after just starting, right? Well I'd like something more challenging with some fingering. Mainly looking for some classic rock like Steve miller, Foreigner, definitely some Rush! And some 80s metal like megadeth and Anvil. But some 90s and new stuff works. Thanks for any suggestions!!!
Smells Like Team Spirit by Nirvana is simple also Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter is good.

There aren't many “easy” Rush songs, but the easier ones for me are Distant Early Warning and Beneath, Between & Behind. For good 90s stuff, “Going the Distance” by Cake was one of my favorites when I first started. Check out the album “Elephant Riders” by the band Clutch. The title track as well as “The Yeti” and “The Soapmakers” have been my warm-up songs for a long time.

Just did a quick search through my music folder for easy-to-moderate stuff you could try out:

Stone Temple Pilots - Plush, Big Bang Baby, Sex Type Thing, Vaseline

Cake - Going the Distance, Never There, Short Skirt/Long Jacket.

Alice in Chains - Rotten Apple, Nutshell, Would, Dam That River, Man in the Box

Michael Jackson - Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat It

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters, Enter Sandman, Crash Course in Brain Surgery, For Whom the Bell Tolls

Seven Mary Three - Cumbersome, My My

Goo Goo Dolls - Name, Iris, Slide, Long Way Down

Fuel - Bittersweet, Shimmer

Collective Soul - Heavy, Gel, Precious Declaration, Shine, Smashing Young Man

Motley Crue - Live Wire, Wild Side, Kickstart My Heart, Home Sweet Home, Public Enemy #1, Too Fast For Love

Def Leppard - Foolin', Bringin' on the Heartbreak, Rock of Ages, Pour Some Sugar on Me

Tool - Prison Sex, Schism, Sober, a bunch of their stuff is pretty simple but awesome

Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper's Delight (a classic you've probably heard it and don't even know it lol)

Grandmaster Flash - White Lines (another classic bass riff)

Audioslave - Your Time Has Come, Cochise, Show Me How to Live

Nirvana - Dive, Lounge Act, Serve the Servants, Polly, Mr. Mustache, Floyd the Barber

Billy Ocean - Caribbean Queen

The Cranberries - Salvation, I Still Do, Dreams, Zombie

INXS - Don't Change, Need You Tonight, Never Tear Us Apart, What You Need

Judas Priest - Breaking the Law, Turbo Lover, Living After Midnight, Heading Out to the Highway

Megadeth - Kill the King, Trust, Breadline, Sweating Bullets

The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright, Pretty Fly for a White Guy, Come Out and Play, Low Self Esteem, Gotta Get Away

Rage Against the Machine - Guerilla Radio, Bulls on Parade, Killing in the Name, Testify

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give it Away, Soul to Squeeze, Scar Tissue

Smashing Pumpkins - 1979, Zero, Cherub Rock, Ava Adore

Digable Planets - Rebirth of Slick

Brother Cane - And Fools Shine On, Got No Shame

Death Cab for Cutie - Soul Meets Body

Dee-Lite - Groove is in the Heart

I'll stop there because that's not even a quarter of the way through my music folder and I skipped over a bunch of bands as it is lol

Also – and you may frown on the idea – there's a lot of good bass stuff to be found in 70s/early 80s disco and pop music.

Are you sure you can play all that in two months ? Is your timing right ? Have you sat in with a guitar and drums ? Play a dozen Social Distortion songs and work on timing. Social D is raw rock and roll with easy bass lines but when arranged kick ass. Great for timing

Chopps yeah I can play all that. Manson bass lines are real easy and I'm in a band and I sing and play bass with my guitarist and occasionally my guitarist and drummer
