I've started on your request, and it is…interesting! The bassist on the recording is Deon Estus, who, it turns out, took lessons from the great James Jamerson of Motown fame. And it shows in Deon's bass line.
Here's the intro. Note how Deon, in just four repetitions of the riff, introduces several rhythmic and melodic variations. He's a good bass player! Definitely one worth studying - there's a lot to learn from his work! Cheers.

Heal The Pain is a good song. Hopefully there will be more George Michael tabs to follow.
This will be slow to tab. It's much easier when the same riff is played the same way each time - figure it out once and you're good to go. When it is varied each time through, it is slow, tedious, tabbing measure-by-measure.
On the other hand, a lot that can be learned about playing a good bassline from this kind of bass player!

Then it's into the chorus, which has the same root notes as the intro (D-E-G-D). I've only listened once, but I think the riff is not as ‘jazzy’ in the chorus as during the intro - supporting the vocal, not overshadowing it. Cheers.

Indeed, and it's even more difficult when you can't figure a part out so you try to look up a live performance, only to discover the player doesn't play it the same way live, either. I'm all for keeping things interesting but when you're like me and only tab recorded versions (they being the versions most easily accessible) it can get genuinely infuriating.
