Who's your favorite bassist and why?
There is my late friend, Jaco…… and then there is everyone else.
“Get me a gig man”
Definitely Geddy Lee (Rush). Mind bending riffs.
Got to give props to Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson, and Carol Kaye. All innovators in their respective genres.
Paul McCartney, who brought the bass out from the shadows in rock bands.
My all time favorite is Adam Clayton of U2. He is not the flashiest player, but has a way of driving a song.
I also love Rob Wynia of the band Floater. They are more known on the west coast, but look them up on you tube. The man is amazing!
I almost forgot to give a shout out for Juan Alderete formerly of Racer X, and now the funky lick master of The Mars Volta!
John Taylor of Duran Duran
He mixes great melodies with a great technique
Peter Baltes (Accept)
He played one of the best bass solos I have ever heard (Princess Of The Dawn live)
IMO Joe Principe from Rise Against, his basslines from ‘The Unraveling’ album are so great…
I'd have to say Geddy Lee too.
Love the bass in rush's songs.
