ok so everyone always says noooo you cant fix a snapped string blah blah. usually true. unless you just need it for a cpl or few days and use heavy guage….. i will explain. broke my low e. cant get one till tmw. it snapped at the tuning peg… do i give up? destring the bass to take tension off the neck? no…. you unwind the coil of wire a bit on the string and expose the tension wire inside. on BOTH ENDS. after you have a decent about out (common sense) grab pliers ( u cant do it with fingers) and twist them together, tight and atleast 8 to 12 times. re wrap the loose exterior around and restring your bass. dont beat the crap out of it and the string will actually hold and be tuneable. i just did it to show up my guitar guy who said it cant be done. yes it can
Also a good idea is to keep spare string in your case and then buy new ones after you replace it But you must remember to buy new ones after you replace
I always have 2 or 3 extra sets of strings on me at all times. Ever break a low B string before? I have a scar from one on my picking hand. It sucks.
lol i broke my low e of all things. i was shocked i didnt hurt anything like the tuning peg with snapping a string that thick. i snapped the entire wire. tension included
