Correction by Graham Lapper ([email protected])

Okay, this is a correction to the previous listing cos I reckon the verse riff was wrong.

The majority of this tab was done by Liam Lince (See end for details). The only part that
is mine is the updated verse riff. I tried the e—mail address but it's no good.....

It previously looked like this:

verse riff—
g|————————————————————————————————————————————
d|————————————————————————————————————————————
a|————————————————————————————————————————————
e|———44444—666—00000—444—————————————————

But I reckon this is wrong cos the note progression is of a different pattern to Riff 1,
yet on listening to the CD, they sound the same.

Also, not sure about the intro. Can somebody check this and let me know.

Anyway, judge for yourself. Any problems/queries, e—mail me at [email protected]

Cheers,

Graham L.

Okay this is a killer song from, in my opinion, Type O's best release to date. It's not
too
hard to play ..... but the timing has got to be perfect, so listen closely to the album
or you'll end up
making a mess of a great song.

Standard Tuning (GDAE)

intro—
g|————————————————————————————————————————————
d|————————————————————————————————————————————
a|——————————————————7/————————————————————————
e|——/2———————7h9———————5—————7/97———————————
this part comes in under the keyboard intro

Riff 1—
g|————————————————————————————————————————————
d|————————————————————————————————————————————
a|————————————————————————————————————————————
e|———/99999444/1212121212444——————————
this is the kickass riff that comes in just after the intro and before the verse. by the
way ... those are
12 as in twelves not 1 2 1 2

verse riff—

As riff 1 but palm muted and play without the slides.

Or another possibility is that it's played on a 5—string... How does that sound?

"hey wolf moon .... come cast your spell on me"

Okay those are all the riffs in the song. Listen to the song to figure out exactly when
to play then and get
the beat down.

About Type O Negative

Type O Negative is a heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York City. Although commonly viewed as a gothic metal band, Type O has also incorporated elements of doom metal and thrash metal. Their dramatic lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death has resulted in the nickname "The Drab Four" (in homage to The Beatles "Fab Four" moniker). The band went Platinum with 1993's Bloody Kisses, and Gold with 1996's October Rust, and has gained an enormous following with seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs. Their most recent album is 2007's Dead Again.

How to Read Bass Tabs

Bass tablature (tabs) is an easy way to learn songs without needing to read traditional sheet music. Here’s a quick guide to understanding the symbols and techniques commonly found in tabs:

1. The Basics

  • Strings and Frets:

Each line in a tab represents a string on your bass:

    • The top line is the highest-pitched string (G on a 4-string bass).
    • The bottom line is the lowest-pitched string (E on a 4-string bass).

Numbers on the lines indicate which fret to press. For example:

    G|-------------------|
    D|-------------------|
    A|---3---------------|
    E|-------------------|

This means you play the 3rd fret on the A string.

2. Common Techniques

  • Hammer-On (h):

Play the first note by picking it, then press down on a higher fret with another finger without picking again.

    G|-------------------|
    D|-------5h7---------|

  • Pull-Off (p):

Pluck a note and then "pull off" your finger to let a lower fret ring.

    G|-------------------|
    D|-------7p5---------|

  • Slide (/ or \):

Move your finger up (/) or down (\) the fretboard while maintaining pressure.

    G|-------------------|
    D|-------5/7---------|

3. Advanced Techniques

  • Bend (b): Push the string up or down to raise the pitch. Example: G|-------7b9---------|
  • Vibrato (~): Shake the string slightly after playing a note to create a vibrating sound. Example: G|-------7~----------|
  • Muted Notes (x): Rest your finger lightly on the string without pressing a fret and pluck for a percussive "click" sound.

4. Rhythm and Timing

Tabs don’t always indicate timing, so listen to the song while reading the tab. Wider spaces between numbers mean longer pauses, while closer numbers indicate quicker notes.

5. Slap and Pop

  • Slap (s): Strike the string with the side of your thumb for a percussive sound.
  • Pop (p): Pull the string away from the fretboard and let it snap back.

Practice Makes Perfect

Tabs are a great tool to learn songs, but mastering the techniques takes practice. Listen carefully to the original track and play along to lock in the rhythm. Don’t rush — smooth, accurate playing is more important than speed. Happy jamming! 🎸
