In response to the robot band, I have this to say:
but as for the titanium instruments, I've seen these before and while they certainly have a cool sound, it seems like they'd be uncomfortable to play. That being said, I think if you're a collector, it would be a funky artifact to have and play around with…or start a Devo cover-revival band.
My youngest brother is a pro bass player who lost his job to a bass box, but not before he turned down a euro tour with The Lighthouse Family, maybe not the big time but a step forward.
On the plus side, the woman who sacked him in favour of technology colapsed and died of a heart attack on stage in Doncaster.

Musicians are traditionalists, its why they still play stuff that looks designed somewhere in the 17th century, cellos, violas, double basses.
Would be cool to try one out though.

That's why instrument manufacturers stick to conventional designs and materials. High tech stuff is still a niche market. Only if, for instance carbon fiber basses with optical pickups are mass produced, they'll come down to an affordable price level. Count me in for a high tech bass. The model? P-Bass would do.
Billy Sheehan tried one of these at NAMM. He hated the feel.
Personally I don't get the point. Why this instead of a regular bass?

Didnt Ned Steinberger do this with Carbon Graphite? 35 years on wheres all the carbon graphite basses

I had the same thought when I first saw those basses. In the eighties I was a licenced radio amateur. Apart from transmitters and receivers, I built quite a number of yagi antennas.
