Loudlon's Tab Corner!
Quote:
Just a note:When I include an isolated bass track with a tab, it's there for a reason – so that you can hear the bass line while following the tab, and will know that it's accurate. So next time, actually play the track and follow the tab BEFORE rating it, so you don't ruin a 5-star rating for absolutely fucking nothing.Thanks.
Uh oh, someone needs a hug!
Not a hug so much as I probably need to take a step back.
I don't mind getting a less-than-five-star rating, if it's justified. In this particular instance, the guy rated me down despite the fact that the tab included the isolated bass track to compare it to. I mean, it's the master bass track! He may as well have been telling the guy who wrote the song “Yeah, I don't think you're playing it right.”
Still, the fact that I get so bent out of shape over someone lowering one of my ratings just tells me I've allowed this tabbing thing to become too important to myself. I do that sometimes; I get so into something that I lose my objectivity. Maybe I should take a few weeks off from tabbing, re-adjust my persepective.
I don't know. It's something to think about.
Well for what it is worth, I'd just like to say thank you for all the tabs you have submitted. You are a very important member of this forum and I would hate to see you stop tabbing over a low rating. Don't let something like this rent space in yer head.
What you do is very much appreciated.
Just to clarify; I have a really difficult time making out notes because of hearing loss. What you and all of the contributors here do actually makes it possible for me to play.
Oh, no, not stopping altogether, just taking a bit of a break. I've only been tabbing for a couple years, when you include individual songs on the full album tabs I've done, you're talking around 400 tabs, give or take. That's a lot of personal time to put into something that's only supposed to be a hobby, you know? In the meanwhile, I haven't mowed the lawn in like three weeks LOL
Lon, you're the man, I think even Sid would admit this, the low rating obviously wasn't justified, its just one of those things that jump up and bite you every now and then. So maybe what we need is the function for a tabber to challenge a low rating and an independent member to decide if the rating was fair.
so remember;
KEEP CALM AND
. FIND THE BASTARD WHO
. GAVE YOU A LOW RATING AND BURN
. HIS HOUSE DOWN
Ha! Sound advice, man. And by “sound,” I mean “Have you taken your meds today?”
Just to clarify, though, I'm just acknowledging that I over-reacted to something that, when it comes right down to it, is unimportant. I enjoy tabbing, I love the hell out of playing bass, but it's not like we're working on the cure for cancer here. I shouldn't get so bent out of shape. Besides, it's not my fault if the person rating the tab is wrong.
I don't do tabs cos the technology involved pisses me off, so the people who do have my greatest admiration, and the way I see it is that maybe a tab isn't wrong but that's what the tabber is hearing
I suggest copious amounts of Jah Herb followed by countless hours of tabbing roots reggae. That will chill ya.
Nudge,nudge, wink, wink.
You're 5 stars to me Lon.
That's got to be worth something… maybe a nickle? I dunno. I never appraised my stars before. They could be worthless.
Keep doing what you do, Lon. Ratings shouldn't change what you enjoy just because someone views an evaluation differently.
I don't think you're the type of person that rushes a tab just to collect stars. You do it because you enjoy it, and I'm sure you don't release a tab until you're 100% happy with it. So that's all that should matter.
Those who can do, do.
Those who cant, complain.
Keeping doing it Lon.
I don't complain, cant do it, don't do it, bosh
